As the Association’s reach continues to grow, here’s a brief overview of some of the online milestones.
2 million page views
From January 1st – December 31st trees.org.uk generated over 2 million page views, breaking the 2021 record of 1.3 million. That’s a 57.6% year on year increase and the homepage itself attracted over 264,000 entrances (vs 150,000 in 2021).
In May 2022 Google made some broad changes to how its ranking systems assess website content. We prepared for this and made some Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) adjustments in the background, which had a huge positive impact.
Help and advice content
One of the biggest assets in terms of website content is the help and advice section, which saw a 70% year on year increase in views (499,800 vs 264,552 in 2021). Four of our top ten most popular web pages are found within this area. We are currently working on a project to improve, update and add a host of new content to grow on this area of strength, which helps the association and its members to become increasingly recognised as the go to organisation for tree care expertise.
Approved Contractor traffic
Each month we run a public focused google advertising campaign promoting the ‘Find an ARB Approved Contractor directory’. This year searches on the directory by postcode or business name grew from 64,000 in 2021 to over 100,000 for the first time.
Training and event growth
In the past three years our catalogue of course content has evolved exponentially, with online courses, on-demand content such as webinars and eLearning courses all popular recent additions. This is reflected in the website analytics, which show training and events account for 176,000 page views.
This year we’ll be conducting a full review and update of the website to make improvements to the way members and all users interact with the site. We are always keen to hear feedback and new ideas, so please feel free to get in touch at marketing@trees.org.uk
