Job adverts and salaries in arboriculture

The Arboricultural Association (the Association) acknowledges that salaries offered in our industry are not always commensurate with the skills, experience and qualifications required for many roles. When approached to advertise a job vacancy, we assess the position against the salary offered. If we believe the salary is too low, we engage with the employer to discuss our concerns. In some cases, they adjust the salary accordingly. In others, they choose to proceed unchanged, or we may decide to decline the advertisement.

While the Association does not intend to develop a structured salary matrix based on factors such as job role, location, experience, career progression, and benefits, we continue to advocate for fair pay within the industry. We will use our influence to push for greater valuation of arboricultural skills and expertise.

We welcome feedback on job roles and salaries. If a vacancy posted on social media receives negative feedback regarding pay, we relay that information to the employer. In many instances, this feedback has successfully encouraged employers to reconsider and offer a more competitive salary. We remain committed to promoting the importance of tree care and tree care professionals, and in doing so we aim to drive positive change — ensuring that those working in arboriculture receive the recognition and remuneration that they deserve.
