About

Professional membership recognises individuals who have achieved at least an RQF Level 5 qualification or higher in Arboriculture or a related discipline.

Successful applicants can use the Arboricultural Association Professional Member Logo and the post-nominals ‘MArborA’. Professional membership is designed to allow senior arboricultural professionals engaged in work across consultancy, contracting management, local authority, education and research, to demonstrate their proficiency and knowledge to their clients and peers.

It also demonstrates that they value their continuous professional development and are committed to a formal code of ethics and professional conduct.

Eligibility

There are two distinct routes to Professional membership – the qualification route and the assessed route.

Professional membership via the Qualification route is open to anyone with an RQF Level 5 academic qualification in Arboriculture or a related subject and has a least two years industry experience in a senior role. To find out if you are eligible and how you should apply, please use our Professional Membership Eligibility checker.

Professional membership via the Assessed route is a portfolio submission of evidence of knowledge and experience in a variety of arboricultural situations. It is advised that applicants have around ten years of experience in the industry with 2-5 years in a senior role.

It is expected that all applicants work within Arboriculture or a closely related discipline, as there is an ongoing CPD requirement for this grade – Professional members must achieve at least 13 hours of Arb CPD a year to maintain their membership.

As a Professional member you will be expected to comply with our Code of Ethics for the duration of your membership.
