Professional Grade

Who can join at this grade?

Professional membership is open to anyone who has at least two years of industry experience at a professional level (demonstrable via CV) and holds a Level 5 qualification in arboriculture or a closely related subject. If you do not hold a level 5 qualification you can apply for Professional membership via our Assessed route by demonstrating equivalent  experience and knowledge.

How much does it cost?

Professional Membership costs £189 for the year or from £15.75 a month if you choose to spread the cost over the year via Direct Debit.. If applying through the Assessed route there is an assessment fee of £100.00, which must be paid at time of application.

Please note our membership year runs from 1st January to 31st December so if you join midway through the year your fee will be prorated to the nearest quarter year rate. Members joining in December will pay for the next year and receive December free.

Overseas members will be charged a small additional shipping fee included in their membership rate.

What do I get?

Professional membership will provide you with the full suite of member benefits and more importantly with the recognition your expertise, experience and knowledge warrants. With use of the MArborA post-nominal and the Professional member logo our Professional members stand out from the crowd.

Does this grade count towards membership progression?

Yes, it does. Professional membership is the next step towards the prestigious AA Fellowship (although many members feel Professional membership is an end in own right!)

Professional membership is also a pre-requisite if you are interested in applying for Chartered Environmentalist or AA Registered Consultant status.

How do I maintain my membership?

Professional membership runs for a full calendar year from 1 January to 31 December and is payable every year on or before the 1 January, or via monthly instalments if you choose that option.

As a Professional member you will also need to complete mandatory Continuous Professional Development, achieving 40 hours over 3 years.

As with all of our memberships you will also be bound by our Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.

How can I demonstrate my membership?

You will receive a certificate showing your new status which you may display as you wish. You are also entitled to use the MArborA post-nominal and  Professional member logo.

How will this help me in the industry?

Professional membership demonstrates a high level of expertise, capability, integrity and industry awareness. Potential clients and employers recognise this attainment.

Are there any ‘Add-Ons’ to Professional Membership?

Yes. You can sign up for Full or Virtual Utility membership to receive the Utility Safety Bulletins and consultation documents. Professional members can also apply to become a Chartered Environmentalist through the AA, supplementing their membership.
