Bats and Trees – 24–25 January 2022

The Arboricultural Association is hosting a new two-day event focussing on the topic of surveying trees for bats. This event will be held in South Gloucestershire on 24 & 25 January 2022.

We invite submission of papers on the central theme of surveying trees for bats to explore the following topics:

  • Bat ecology and roosting behaviour
  • Advances in survey techniques
  • Practicalities of surveying trees for bats
  • Compliance with legislation and industry best practice

AA members, non-members, arboricultural professionals and ecological professionals are invited to submit proposals under one or more of these topic headings. If you have an idea which fits beneath the overall surveying trees for bats headline but does not necessarily within one of the categories listed above, then please get in touch.

Presentations will be between 20-40 minutes, but workshops or demonstrations will also be considered; please specify this in your proposal.

Proposals should be sent to Jim Mullholland at jim@trees.org.uk or use the form opposite and must include the following information:

  1. Name
  2. Job title and organisation
  3. Brief speaker biography (100 words maximum)
  4. Title of presentation
  5. Subject area (from the list above, or something new)
  6. Summary of proposal (maximum 300 words)
  7. Proposed presentation type (PowerPoint presentation, workshop, etc.)
