Scotland Branch Field Trip
This field trip will take in two sites– Pitcarmick pinetum in the morning and Faskally forest in the afternoon.
Pitcarmick Pinetum is an impressive and diverse conifer collection which was established in 1923. It now comprises around 700 trees of over 100 species and a number of champion trees featured in the Tree Register.
Faskally is the site of a forestry school which ran in the 1950s and 60s, now used for the ‘Enchanted Forest’ event. Various stages of continuous cover forestry can be seen with areas of light demanding species and others with shade tolerant species.
