For arboriculturalists who deal with, or intend to deal with subsidence cases, (especially Local Authorities) will find the science complicated. How can you determine whether or not a tree is causing the building's cracks?
This book explains Liquid Limits, Plastic Limits, Plasticity Index, the significance of trees, and other factors that may play a part. It includes case files, and reports, and many scientific diagrams.
Although, do not think that this book will answer all your questions. on the contrary, subsidence is a big beast.
The fault with this book, should one be critical, was the long-winded answers to some of the questions. For example if you know nothing about subsidence, you will struggle with this book alone.
This book is not "Subsidence for beginners" but a valuable resource for someone wishing to become an expert. There are not many alternatives.
