Assessment of Tree Forks

This courses aims to increase understanding of the structures of trees, how they form, how they react to loading and how likely they are to fail.

Attendees will become aware of the connection between normal branch-to-branch interactions and mature tree crown development, and what types of tree work may unwittingly give rise to more failures of branches and tree junctions after that work is completed.

These ‘Fork Workshops’ will be run by Dr. Duncan Slater, senior lecturer in Arboriculture at Myerscough College, AA member and chartered forester, who has published several recent papers on tree junction anatomy and biomechanics as part of a PhD in Plant Science from the University of Manchester.
