Course Objectives:

The Library of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) is Scotland's national reference collection for specialist botanical and horticultural resources, and is one of this country's largest research libraries. The Library holds over 1 million items – books, journals, original artworks, maps and much more. As one of Scotland's National Collections, all of these items are available for use by anyone that needs to access them.

Lorna Mitchell, Head of Library and Publications will lead us on a tour  where we will look at some of the items of Arboricultural Significance. We will follow the tour with a walk around the Tree Collection and there will be plenty of opportunity for discussion and networking.

Course Content:

The Excursion will be from 10:00 to 15:00pm 26th October 2019, we will convene in the Board room 20A Inverleith Row (https://goo.gl/maps/NzvEz2fQm4zUCJUHA)  for Tea and Coffee. Note this is on the opposite side of the garden from the John Hope Gateway, and about 100 m the public East Gate. It is on the 8, 23, and 27 Lothian Bus lines.

Please bring a packed lunch.

Parking: The best option will be to park on street. There is 4-hour parking on the streets around the science buildings, and all-day pay and display parking available on Inverleith Place at the end near the intersection with Arboretum Place (check the machines, as there is a mix of time limits on this street, http://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/info/20276/parking_spaces/507/find_parking_bays). Some of these spots are up to a 10 min walk away, so please plan extra time for parking, and please let me know if you have any mobility issues so I can make sure to find you a closer spot.

Module Pre-requisites:
