In celebration of National Tree Week 2021, the Arboricultural Association (AA) has released a new guide to Young Tree Aftercare.
With tree planting targets and strategies now becoming commonplace, the guide to young tree aftercare outlines a few key good practice steps, that anyone can follow to ensure their trees becoming established in the landscape.
Following the successful introduction of the AA’s tree watering campaign in 2020, which has since been translated into several languages, the new guide aims to provide an easy-to-follow young tree maintenance programme for at least two or three years.
The new guide forms part of the Arboricultural Association’s Guide to Tree Establishment, with more downloadable best practice guidance to follow. You can download and share the new poster using the links below.

After three years consider if the tree is ready to be taken off the young tree maintenance programme, or if it needs a bit longer. If it is ready then it is time to remove the stakes and ties.
Always consult an arboricultural professional if in any doubt about tree care.
