Professional Member and Postgraduate Researcher, Dean Bell, is seeking support from arboricultural professionals in completing a questionnaire titled ‘Practitioner experiences on the impact of tree pit design on urban tree growth and survival in hard landscapes’.
As an arboricultural practitioner, Dean is interested in gaining information about your professional experiences with different tree pit designs in relation to urban tree growth and survival in hard landscapes. The questionnaire should take between 15 to 25 minutes to complete, and your answers will be fully anonymised.
The questionnaire forms one of several activities being undertaken as part of a PhD at the University of the West of England to identify practical methods to improve tree performance in hard landscapes. There remains considerable mortality rates among street tree populations. By completing the questionnaire you will be helping us to gain a better understanding of the impact of different tree pit interventions, importantly from the practitioner perspective. These data will have particular significance in the pursuit of improving success rates of urban planting in hard landscapes, at a time when a plethora of tree canopy cover and planting targets have been (and continue to be) set for towns and cities internationally.
Please scan the accompanying QR code for further information and to access the questionnaire. The questionnaire will close on 7th January 2022.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to contribute to this research.
