Support #ArbMatters Campaign
To celebrate National Tree Week, we’re highlighting the value of the Arboriculture industry to the UK over the next month. Trees are so important and so often undervalued, tree care professionals get even less recognition; we want to change this.
So, with #ArbMatters, we’re encouraging everyone to share their personal thoughts on why our industry is so important and why it needs greater recognition, using the hashtag #ArbMatters.

Our #TreeChampions
Here are a few of the members and ARB Approved Contractors who are supporting National Tree Week.
Artemis Tree Services
Artemis Tree Services, winners of the 2019 Horticulture Week ‘Arboriculture Contractor of the Year’ award, are doing their bit by donating at least 250 trees during National Tree Week. Aaron Walsh, Commerical Director at Artemis, explained why:
“National Tree Week is an excellent initiative that we are very excited to be directly supporting this year. A lot of the work we do here at Artemis involves keeping trees in good shape to encourage their longevity but that’s not always possible. Committing to donate at least 250 new saplings to be planted around the UK is a great way for us to help preserve our native tree population whilst doing our bit to fight climate change and encourage British wildlife.
“We’re a company of tree lovers, and as the first Arb Approved Arb Company to get behind the scheme in this way, we are happy to be spreading the love”
Teign Trees and Landscapes
In Exeter Teign Trees and Landscapes are taking part in an eco-build project at Newport Park Retirement Bungalows. The project has invited the local ARB Approved Contractors to plant up to 20 standard & heavy standard, predominantly native species, trees & mixed species native hedging.
Thor’s Trees
Thor’s Trees, who became ARB Approved in May, have been busy organising a tree planting project for a local playground.

Talking Tree Planting
As part of our National Tree Week campaign Dr Andrew Hirons, Senior Lecturer in Arboriculture at Myerscough College, explains how we can plant trees more effectively. Make sure arboricultural professionals are making the key decisions!
In 2018 Dr Hirons helped create some of the most comprehensive tree species selection ever developed in the form of ‘Tree Species Selection for Green Infrastructure’.
The free guidance available as a database and pdf provides detailed information for over 280 species on their use-potential, size and crown characteristics, natural habitat, environmental tolerance, ornamental qualities, potential issues to be aware of, and notable varieties.
