2021 Award Winners Announced
Congratulations to 2021 Young Arboricultural Professional of the Year winner Lynden Reed!
Thanks to Lockhart Garratt for sponsoring the award. Here is an excerpt from one of the many nominations we received for Lynden:
“As a young tree officer for Enfield Council, one of the major Boroughs within London, he has shown a true passion regarding tree management and tree strategies. As the Contracts Manager for Enfield Council, Lynden has willingly worked alongside our crews on major crane works, to gain valuable under pinning knowledge of both sides of tree management, all whilst couple with his studies. Lynden is one of the most committed individuals within the tree industry, his passion and willingness to learn and gain knowledge, not only within this industry but with nature and the environment as a whole, this is evident with his continued studies for his level 2 in Bat survey/research. A worthy nominee of this award and a credit to this industry.”
Congratulations to Maria Mushens, the winner of the Arboricultural Best Student of the Year award!
Thank you to Tree Life for sponsoring this award. Here is an excerpt from Maria’s nomination:
“As a relative newcomer to arboriculture from a completely unrelated discipline, I believe Maria has shown considerable commitment to her new role within a tree team. She has understood very quickly that in order to talk to people who are concerned about their trees, or to explain why trees need either work or protection, she needs a level of understanding about them that she did not previously possess. Having understood the basics of tree inspection and the ‘mechanics of the role, Maria has propelled herself head-first into an intensive period of study, and has self-funded the majority of the level 4 qualification herself. Her accelerating knowledge has been noted by her employer and I hope she will now achieve the recognition for the commitment she has demonstrated.
“She has taken every opportunity to discuss trees and how they grow and respond in the field, and has undergone extensive research to submit assignment to a very high standard – anyone reading them would never know that she has relatively few years in the field. She has shown a diligent and thorough approach to understanding the subject to a deeper level than many more experienced students. I am proud to nominate Maria for the Best Student award, to have come so far so quickly with very little support has been remarkable: the industry is lucky to have her!”
