Mark Vestey demonstrates the Picus 3 for the Scottish Branch audience.
The Scottish Branch was delighted to host Phil Wade and Mark Vestey of Sorbus International Ltd on 30 April.
A very attentive audience was updated on several arboriculture-related products. Phil’s wide-ranging talk discussed the pros and cons of sonic tomography and electric resistance tomography; the advantages of using microdrills; the exciting ‘Blade infusion system in trees’ (Bite); tree motion sensors; and biosecurity kits. Phil is clearly very experienced at presenting these topics in a light and understandable way. He made the point of using case studies to help explain the role of each device in urban tree management and fielded many questions from the floor.
Mark then demonstrated how user-friendly the Picus 3 and Resi-PD Microdrill are to the fully booked audience. We were all taken by how quickly results could be achieved and Mark stressed how the two tools are compatible, with one verifying the results of the other.
Many thanks to Phil and Mark, who gave their time freely. Equal thanks to Glasgow City Council’s Neighbourhoods and Sustainability Department for being gracious hosts.
