Martin Kott

Martin Kott

CEO of Czech Union for Nature Conservation, Tree Rescue Company

About the Organization:

The Tree Rescue Company, focuses on organizing educational events primarily in the field of arboriculture. The foundation of their work is the Tree Rescue Competition, an innovative tree-climbing competition aimed at rescuing an injured tree climber from the crown of a tree. The positive reception of this pilot project led to the development of the organization with a broader scope, aiming to enhance safety, risk prevention, education, and expertise within the arboriculture field.

Professional Background:

Martin has been actively involved in arboriculture since 2010, dedicating himself to comprehensive tree care of amenity trees. Over the years, he has treated hundreds of trees in private gardens, parks, and along roadsides. Known for his deep commitment to the arboriculture scene, Martin has been connecting the community through the Tree Rescue Competition and various arborist meet-ups for over a decade. His efforts have earned him widespread admiration and respect.

Additional Ventures:

Martin is developing his own family farm, where he raises horses for work in the forest. Bridging these two worlds has become Martin’s specialty. His lecture “The Use of Horses in Arboriculture” was one of the most attended sessions at the regular industry meeting, ArboChat, last year.

Personal Qualities:

Martin is celebrated for his remarkable ability to unite the arboriculture community, fostering a spirit of collaboration, competitiveness, and collective joy. His initiative in creating the Tree Rescue Competition reflects his innovative approach to education and safety in arboriculture, simulating the stress and quick decision-making required in tree rescue scenarios with a race format. This unique method provides invaluable, realistic practice in a highly stressful and time-sensitive activity, contributing significantly to the field’s development and the community’s cohesion.
