Salary: £30,507 – £34,788 (Scale 5) depending on experience
Winchester City Council is looking for a committed and keen Tree Surveyor to join the Natural Environment and Recreation Team, within Winchester City Council.
As part of a small team, you will be responsible for undertaking a 2 year tree inspection programme around the Winchester District. This includes planning and preparing for surveying (including the use of GIS and other IT systems); undertaking tree surveys, identifying defects and recording information on the Council’s owned and managed databases. In addition you will be required to commission works to Council trees as required.
To be successful you will have a nationally recognised Arboricultural Qualification (Level 4) and at least 3 years relevant experience. You’ll be confident and conversant with all aspects of arboriculture including tree identification skills, tree survey work and tree protection legislation.
An ability to work independently as well as part of a team is essential, as is good organisational skills and an ability to manage your own workload and time.
This role will see you come into contact with members of the public, arboricultural experts, applicants, planners and councilors, as well as other sections of the Council, so excellent communication skills are a must.
You must be qualified to a Level 4 standard and ideally have a Professional Tree Inspection qualification.
This is a full-time post for a 2 year period, based at our Council Offices in the center of Winchester.
The salary is a scale 5 ie £30,507 to £34,788 depending on experience and there is a generous contributory Local Government pension, opportunities for flexible working and free parking.
