The European Arboricultural Council (EAC) is a forum where delegates from various arboricultural organizations throughout Europe meet with the object of elevating the status and advancing the profession by liaising on matters ranging from research and education to successful tree establishment and improvement of working practices. The EAC is offering the ETW and ETT certification all over Europe. We are looking for a Technical Officer for International Arboricultural Affairs.

Specific Technical Officer Duties

  • To support the organisation wherever possible and to deliver talks and seminars in order to promote the EAC.
  • To keep up to date with modern arboriculture and ensure that the EAC is fully aware of changes to the industry.
  • To liaise with and assist country members with arboricultural matters, with European Tree Worker (ETW) and European Tree Technician (ETT) and others.
  • To carry out some supervision of exams across Europe.
  • To take an active role in supporting Working Groups in their work for the EAC.
  • To specifically target new country members.
  • To become actively involved in the EAC European projects, considering and leading new projects as required.
  • To develop a close and cooperative working relationship with other European and Global organisations in the field of Arboriculture.
  • To take on other special duties or projects such as new product development, book and leaflet reviews and projects that will be identified from time to time and to manage these projects to conclusion.
  • To ultimately report to the EAC Executive Committee and to work very closely with the Secretariat on a daily basis.
  • To set at all times an excellent example to all country members of the EAC community.

Essential attributes and skills

  • To have a well recognised arboricultural qualification, ideally to degree level.
  • To have worked in the arboricultural industry for up to 5 years at a practical (for example as ETW or ETT) and a managerial level.
  • To have a good command of the English and German languages and to have good overall language skills.
  • To have good communication skills and an open mind and awareness of the different situations and cultures in Europe.
  • To be prepared to travel extensively throughout Europe.
  • To be able to work mainly from the EAC office in Bad Honnef, Germany.
  • To have some experience of working on European Projects.
  • To be a highly motivated and organized professional.
