Test Valley comprises a diverse and attractive natural and built environment including the North Wessex Downs National Landscape, the historic town of Romsey, and the beautiful river Test, along with largest settlement of Andover which is the commercial centre of the borough.
These are dynamic times in Test Valley as we meet the challenge of accommodating the new housing and commercial growth we need to plan for across the borough, and deliver masterplan led regeneration projects in Andover and Romsey, as well as contributing to the Council’s ambitious climate change agenda.
We are currently recruiting a Principal Arboricultural Officer to lead and support a team of professional tree officers on a range of work including policy formation, Tree Preservation Orders and casework across the borough. The right candidate will be a confident communicator, with excellent people skills, and importantly, have proven experience in arboricultural practice. They must demonstrate their ability to effectively work in a constructive, positive and collaborative way.
Living our organisation’s values is very important to us and is reflected in the way we work with our communities and with each other. We are looking to recruit people who genuinely reflect our values in how they approach their work.
Bringing a fresh perspective to our well-established and friendly team of professionals, we would also welcome you sharing your own ideas and experience, and not be afraid to put forward suggestions which would further improve our service for our residents and businesses.
In return you will receive a competitive salary, and the opportunity to work in a great place with enthusiastic and supportive colleagues. We actively promote a good work/life balance with an agile working environment which offers the opportunity to work remotely up to three days per week. We encourage continuous learning and development and have a programme of events designed to support employee wellbeing.
