This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and motivated arboricultural professional to join our well-established tree and woodlands team and make a real difference for people and nature in Bristol.
What will I be doing?
As part of an experienced and well-established team, based at Bower Ashton depot, you will be responsible for the risk management of Bristol City Council’s tree population, within the city’s parks, open spaces and highways.
You will provide expert and specialist advice to other Bristol City Council departments, and external partners, both in written and verbal form; and ensuring the technical information is accessible to non-specialist audiences. You will be responsible for consultation processes with the above groups regarding tree management activities.
What do I need to have?
You will have a minimum of a Level 3 qualification in Arboriculture, you will be able to make decisions regarding the risk management of trees, informed by current industry research, QTRA and the relevant British Standards.
If the right applicant does not hold current QTRA and professional tree inspector qualifications, you will need to demonstrate a willingness to pursue relevant training. You will be familiar with commissioning and contracting work, and of ensuring works completed reach the agreed standards.
You will have excellent communication skills; and be able to develop positive working relationships with all our stakeholders, and colleagues, including Natural England, the Forestry Commission, local community groups and residents.
You will be motivated; and able to work independently, planning and prioritising your work activities, be able to work with Bristol City Council’s tree contractor, including issuing works orders, and monitoring the completed works.
