Course Objectives:

Soil compaction, elevated atmospheric pollutants and drought; these are all issues that Urban trees face throughout the world. Glyn Percival will be delving into the causes and solutions of a range of different environmental impacts that can affect our beloved treescapes.

As an expert in the field Glyn will guide you through the latest developments in soil compaction including Air-spade technology and Vertical mulching.

 

Tom Smiley will be addressing the complex issue of managing Roots near Pavements and in urban plazas.

With limited access to open ground in urban areas it has become a necessity to learn about new and exciting construction methods that can improve a trees growth and create sustainable living conditions.

Throughout the day you will compare a vast scope of new dynamic construction methods as well as taking part in experiments to put the methods to the test.

Tom will also be delivering a talk that will review the methodology used in TRAQ and will be leading a critical analysis of recent research into the methodology.

Course Content:

10:00 - 11:00 Latest developments in tree health care

1100 - 1130 Break

11:30 - 12:30 Root management near pavement and in urban plazas

12:30 - 1:30 Lunch

1:30 - 2:00 Tree Risk Assessment using TRAQ

2:00 – 3:00 Practical demonstration of latest tree care equipment

3:00 Tea/coffee and disperse
