Course Objectives:

-          Introduce tree biomechanics and biology

-          Discuss the principles of visual tree assessment

-          Identify and discuss defects on trees

Course Content:

This popular workshop provides an excellent introduction to the art of visual tree assessment (VTA) and is a great opportunity to improve existing VTA skills, learning from a legendary arboriculturist Jack Kenyon within one of the finest woodland gardens in the country.

-          The tree as a system and self-optimised structure

-          The principles of VTA

-          Decay fungi

-          Mechanical symptoms 

-          Inspection equipment

-          Making recommendations

-          Afternoon VTA walk

Module Pre-requisites:

None. This event is suitable for any interested person that undertakes tree surveying or would like to learn more about trees.
