Who can join at this grade?
Professional membership is open to anyone who has at least 2 years of industry experience at a professional level.
Professional members must hold at least a Level 5 qualification in arboriculture or have demonstrable equivalent experience, If you hold a Level 5 or higher qualification you can apply via the Qualification route. If not, you can apply via the Assessed route.
How much does it cost?
Professional membership fees are just £175.00 a year or £14.50 a month if you choose to spread the cost over the year via Direct Debit. If applying through the Assessed route there is an assessment fee of £75.00.
What do I get?
Professional membership will provide you with the full suite of member benefits and more importantly with the recognition your expertise, experience and knowledge warrants. With use of the MArborA post-nominal our Professional members stand out from the crowd.
Does this grade count towards membership progression?
Yes, it does. Professional membership is the next step towards the prestigious AA Fellowship (although many members feel Professional membership is an end in own right!)
Professional membership is also a pre-requisite if you are interested in applying for Chartered Environmentalist or AA Registered Consultant status.
How do I maintain my membership?
Professional membership runs for a full calendar year from 1 January to 31 December and is payable every year on the 1 January, or via monthly instalments if you choose that option.
As a Professional member you will also need to complete mandatory Continuous Professional Development, achieving 40 hours over 3 years.
As with all of our memberships you will also be bound by our Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.
How can I demonstrate my membership?
You will receive a certificate showing your new status which you may display as you wish. You are also entitled to use the MArborA post-nominal.
How will this help me in the industry?
Professional membership is our equivalent of ‘chartered membership’. It demonstrates a high level of expertise, capability, integrity and industry awareness. Potential clients and employers recognise this attainment.
Are there any ‘Add-Ons’ to Professional Membership?
Yes. You can sign up for Full or Virtual Utility membership to receive the Utility Safety Bulletins and consultation documents. Professional members can also apply to become a Chartered Environmentalist through the AA, supplementing their membership.
